The first component is the feeding system for non-standard components. There are several ways to supply special-shaped components, such as bulk, tape, tube, and tray. The appropriate feeding method is selected according to the different shapes and sizes of special-shaped components. The main responsibility is to orderly deliver the special-shaped components to the mechanical arm grasping position. When the special-shaped components do not meet the requirements, they are placed in the waste area.

The second component is the grasping mechanism. The grasping of irregular components can be achieved through methods such as suction cups, nozzles, electric cylinders, and air cylinders, mainly to achieve the inherent grasping of irregular components and ensure that they will not fall off during movement. The suction cup and nozzle method is used in this system due to the small suction cup area, low suction force, and short service life, so the clamping method is adopted.

The third component is the machine vision system. The machine vision system mainly collects image information of PCB boards and irregular components. In this irregular plug-in system, there are two sets of cameras in the visual inspection system, each consisting of a CCD camera, a circular light source, and a shading device. The shading device is used to isolate external light, as external light can cause color parameter values of the image to deviate. Located at the front end of the robot arm and the plug-in workbench respectively, the former is used for positioning and detection of PCB boards, while the latter is used for detection of irregular components. The camera processes the signals captured by the camera and transmits the processed coordinate information to the main controller through communication
